‘SURFACE & SUBSTANCE’ by Neville Palmer and Tom Thompson

We are delighted to welcome Neville Palmer and Tom Thompson to Wisbech Gallery for a showcase of their excellent work!

‘Surface & Substance’ launched on Saturday 16th May (12pm – 3pm) and is now open to the public every Wednesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm, until Saturday 13th June. Visitor Notice (13th June 2026) – please be aware that the lift in the building is currently out of service, so any visitors requiring step free access may not be able to visit the Upper Gallery. The Lower Gallery and shop are still open to all visitors.

Two artists, of mature years, will be sharing aspects of their expressive journeys – one working with tangible materials and processes, the other engaging now primarily with the digital environment – in an exhibition which will provide for an enriching visual encounter.

Tom Thompson’s ceramic and wood sculptures, defined by light and touch, will stand in some contrast against Neville Palmer’s thousands of small coloured squares produced within the digital environment and under glass. Complementing the forthcoming exhibition at Wisbech Gallery will be some of Tom’s work as a potter and from Neville some earlier paintings from a series with acrylics.
